Sadie Engelhardt, a freshman at Ventura High in California, placed second in the girls mile in 4:36.50 at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. Engelhardt ran the fastest non-winning outdoor mile time in U.S. prep history, as seven female athletes ran under 4:40 for the first time in a high school race. Engelhardt still boasts a personal-best 4:35.16 from her victory April 9 at the Arcadia Invitational, which is the fastest performance ever by a 15-year-old competitor.
