Sadie Engelhardt, a sophomore at Ventura High in California, and freshman Aelo Curtis finished first and third in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 girls cross country final at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Engelhardt covered the 2.93-mile layout in 17:12.8 and Curtis clocked 17:40.4 for Ventura, which placed second overall behind Newbury Park by a 70-125 margin, as both teams advanced to the Nov. 26 state final at Woodward Park in Fresno.
